Going to School on Time?

We've only had 1 day that the kids have had to go to school on time since who knows when....needless to say this is what a kindergartener looks like on that day, which was this past Friday......He had gotten dressed and was sitting on the stairs (which happens to be where the kids sit and put their shoes and socks on)...I had left to go get Griffin's shoes and socks and this is what I came back too.....Griffin sleeping on the steps! It was just too sweet.  With all the snow days and sick days he's combined for the months of January and February.  He's been a little relunctant to go back to school, can't say that I blame him...he's such a a little homebody....So he was happy about the 1 hour delay today...he got to sleep in a bit more.  Especially with our busy weekend (more posts to come) sleeping in was nice for all 3 kids....So we shall see what tomorrow holds on-time or delay??? uummmmm?

The Little Things - Inside Snow Day

Well we had three snow days this past week and for two of the three we stayed inside due to Natalie's ear's hurting.  On Snow Day #2 I headed to the doctor with Natalie for her earache in both ears.  Sure enough she had sinus infection and double ear infection, just like her brother the week before.    Natalie & I went to DQ for lunch while we were waiting on her antibiotic Rx to be filled and while there Carrie, Cassie, & Connor showed up.  So we brought Connor home with us to play for the day.  The kids made a Ginormous tent in the girls room and it became their little cove to lay in and watch movies.  They chose The Bee Movie.  Nice sunshiny movie to watch in the dead of winter...makes me long for summer.  But they  have had a blast in that tent so I've let them leave it up all week...makes the room looke like a disaster but a house with 3 kids snowed in pretty much the entire house looks like a diaster...and I say "Oh Well"...it will be clean one of these days.  Anyway the kids ate popcorn in their room while watching the movie just an added little bonus on a snow day.  It's the little things of snow days, cousins, sibilings, home-made tents, popcorn, and a MESSY room that makes life beautiful.....what's left to do but.....LIVE.....LOVE.....LAUGH!

The Little Things - My Valentines

Friday, when the kids came home from school, I told them they needed to go up to their rooms and make their beds.  Not what they exactly wanted to do, but they were pleasantly surprised, that their momma, had made their beds, and left a little bit of Valentine Love on their pillows!  I had went to a store in Vincennes earlier in the day to pick up some other items,  when I walked into the store they had all these really cool balloons that I felt I couldn't leave the store without.  So needless to say I gave in and suprised the kids early with their Valentines.  The expressions on their faces were priceless!  I simply LOVE Valentine's Day, a day set aside to specifically tell those around you that you love them!  My sweet, MIL, invited us over for lunch today, which is always YUMMY, not to mention she spoiled us by including her butter horns with the meal...MY FAVORITE! The kids love going to grandma and grandpa's and we enjoyed time visiting and appreciating family!

Les had left with his dad to go do the chores.  On our way home the kids and I meet Les on the road.  Natalie was sitting up front, and I told her watch this.... this is what you do when you are cruising around town and see a good looking guy...you stopped in the middle of the road and roll your windows down and say "Hey good lookin!"  LOL!!  I thought it appropriate to throw in a little flirting since it is Valentine's Day.  I must say...Natalie rolled her eyes and said that's gross!!  Just keep thinking that Natalie! LOL!!  Of course she then said I don't think I'll even want to get married when I'm 70! hee hee.

I making our annual "red dinner" tonight for the kids and Les.  Everything served is either red or has some touch of red in it.  Les doesn't remember it so much but the girls were all about asking if I was going to do that tonight.  Megan even asked if we were going to light the candles and have a candle light dinner....which I must admit, I had forgot that I did the candles but she remembered,  so I must dig out some candles!  I'm off to put the finishing touches on our meal!  Happy Valentine's Day to all!

The Little Things - My Favorite Snowman

All the way home from church Griffin kept begging his daddy to use his shovel.  Here's their conversation:
Griffin:  Daddy I can shovel the gravel.
Les:  (not paying attention)
Griffin:  Daddy when I get home can I shovel the gravel.
Les:  We don't have gravel to shovel.
Griffin:  Daddy I can shovel the drive thru.
Les:  What?
Griffin:  Daddy when we get home, I want to shovel the snow off the gravel way.
Les:  (looking around at all the fields while driving).   Confused look on his face..what's he talking about?
Mom (the interpreter):  Griffin are you wanting to shovel snow off the driveway?
Griffin:  Yes, the driveway...Daddy I CAN shovel the snow off the driveway!
now by this time we are on our road, mind you we live in the country....
Griffin:  Look there's apple poop!
Dad (the interpreter):  It's road apples Griffin.

Mom interprets the English language and leave it to dad to intrepret the poop.  LOL!  Anyway after Griffin had a nap yesterday afternoon,he bundled up and out and away he went.  He was happy as can be and was loving being a hard worker just like his dad!  That's my "little thing" I'm grateful for.... is the way he looks up to his daddy and his desire to want to be just like him, and the fact his daddy is a great role model for him too!

Super Bowl - not so super

So we were all pretty excited with the Colts 10-0 lead until after about falling asleep during the half-time show and then the Saints came marching in with a big play in the 3rd quarter.  It was so sad to see our Colts go down.  But I guess exciting for the Saints to get their 1st ever Super Bowl Championship and they did have a great second half and deserved to win!  And we had a fun time visiting with family and only had one minor injury with the kids having their own super bowl football game in the hallway upstairs...oh yeah...they said "we're not playing football, we're just playing with the ball."  Sounds pretty much like playing football to me.  I found myself quoting Carol Brady:  "No playing Ball in the house!"  Better luck next year Colts! Maybe they'll bring some sunshine home from the Sunshine state!

The Little Things - Prom Dress Shopping

Another fun "little thing" from the weekend -- me and the girls got to tag-along with Carrie & Cassie to go Prom Dress Shopping on Saturday.  I'm not so sure this is a "little thing" to Cassie as she thinks of it more like torcher.   As she states..."she hates trying on clothes and she hates wearing dresses and you put the two of them together it's more than she can hardly handle...I teased her that the dressing room has now become her "torcher chamber"! LOL!  But Carrie has figured out she will have this prom dress shopping mastered by the time Megan & Natalie go to prom. I sure hope so... I'm sure I'll need all the help with having 2 girls going to prom at the same time! I better start saving now.  Cassie tried on several dresses but just hasn't found "the perfect one for her".   We had fun anyway.  The girls wanted Cassie to try on "poofy" dresses but Cassie says "Absolutely No Poof!".  A few of the dresses she had in mind were already sold out so she is still on the hunt for a prom dress.  She's been to Vincennes and Evansville.  So if anyone has any suggestions where else there are some great shops with some great dresses feel free to lets us know!  By the way doesn't she just look GORGEOUS in those prom dresses!  The dress shop lady said "You have the perfect body for these dresses"...yeah I'd like to have that problem too..

The Little Things ~ In the Frosty Air

My favorite "Little Thing" this week was the "In the Frosty Air" this morning.  I enjoyed God's Handiwork during our drive to church.  So much, in fact, that I made Les stop the van and let me take some pictures.  Not the best pictures because he was rushing me and you can only do so much with a camera from the passenger side window.  Anyway isn't it so cool how God can make ugly weeds into something so glassy and glistening in the sunlight.  Kind of like He makes my ugly sin go away with His FORGIVENESS and lets me glisten in His "son-light".
