Antique tractor show

We had every intention on going to church this morning but we got out to the highway...Natalie says "Daddy can you hand me my shoes?" Yes we had managed to leave the house without Natalie having any shoes on her feet! That's a first in her 8 years of life so I guess we can be excused uh?? So we decided by the time of turning around and getting to washington church would be half over...so yes we were church skippers and headed to Elnora to the antique show!

Les spied this little Allis-Chalmers tractor for Griffin to have his picture taken by. Allis-Chalmers was always the Graber family tractor of choice until they stopped making them. As you can see Griffin likes all kinds of tractors. He is wearing his Case IH hat, John Deere shirt, and standing by the Allis Chalmers tractor! It was very tempting for him to want to climb up and sit on the tractors. He even saw a little boy driving a big tractor and he told his dad.."I want to do that too!" But he was very good and didn't even touch them!

Of course one of the first things we did was head for the barn with some horses in it! Megan has always wanted a horse! The kids all like seeing them and petting them and keep dreaming of a day they can have one of their own. Dad says no...cows and horses don't mix??

We attended a school session from 1908 today. We learned alot about how school was run in 1908 and interesting to hear if the children were caught playing with another child at recess they would get 10 lashes!! YIKES! Everyone was reminded to use their manors and remove their hats as they entered the building! My how in 100 years school systems have changed!! Megan & Griffin got to help with singing a song before school let out! That was a lot of fun for us!

After the school session we walked on over to the Swartzentruber's to watch them saw some logs! We took a picture of the kids by their old wagon and thought we'd give Swartzentruber Sawmill some free advertising on our blog. The saw mill is owned by my BFF, Theresa's husbands family!! Which we just happened to bump into right after taking this picture! Griffin was very excited to get to see her boys!!

Then it was off to find some yummy food! And after lunch and walking around some more the kids spied the playground so Les finished checking out the rest of the tractors and the kids and I hung out here. The weather was beautiful and nice breeze all day.

Megan liked climbing on these tires and thought it'd be a cute idea to take a picture of her under it! She was right! She is pretty cute!

And Griffin of course found the biggest slide on the playground! They had a blast. So we caught up with Les as he was talking to a fellow farmer and Megan was hungry and thirsty so we spied a Lemonade shake-up stand and Homemade carmel corn made in a big black kettle!! And some how we lucked out that they were just finishing fixing a fresh hot batch right out of the kettle!! Can you say melt in your mouth!! Megan & I have alot of the same likes in food so I must say I was very happy with her choices of snacks and drink and she was more than happy to share with me!

We headed home and realized we might just have time to make it back to the Turkey Trot to see the end of the demo, my nephew, Jimmy was participating in. And we thought since it was late enough we probably wouldn't have to pay the $12.00 admission charge! The last heat was just getting ready to start and no one was charging admission so we walked right in...but we didn't get to see Jimmy...he had qualified for the last heat but he didn't bring his car back in because of a issue with his bumper being a little demolished! We didn't get to see Jimmy to talk to him so hopefully he had a good time anyway!
