Saturday the kids and I headed down the turkey barns to help Les, Neal, & Grandpa in the brooder building (barn for the baby turkeys a.k.a. polts). We have baby turkeys scheduled to arrive March 28, 2009. There is a lot of work that goes into getting ready for them. Megan, Natalie, & Griffin maybe little but they really are big help. We got all the cardboard rings set up, waters put in, and feeders set out.

They all even got some Tractor Driving lessons in on Saturday. I think that was their favorite part of the day! Griffin was very proud of himself. He keeps telling his daddy and grandpa he is big enough to drive all by himself!
I can't believe how tall my Megan is growing! I'm barely a whole head taller than she is and she is only 10! She was pretty proud to be driving the tractor too! I absolutely LOVE her red polka dotted rubber boots! She is definitely a stylin farm girl!
Natalie patiently waited her turn and was the last of the 3 to get her turn at driving the tractor. She is my perfectionist and could tell she was a little nervous because she didn't want to mess up, but she did just fine. I can see in the future that we are going to have lots of volunteers when it comes time for needing tractor drivers! I really am thankful that my kids can grow up on a farm, yes there is alot of work to be done, but truly greatful they have a place to learn how to have a good work ethic. And as for right now they are pretty eager to help out! Which again blesses my heart!

Looks like the kids had fun getting ready for turkeys! Shawn and I have often talked about how having a farm is such a good way to teach kids work ethic! BTW, Happy Birthday!! I feel so blessed to be able to call you family as well as friend!
That is so funny about you and your turkeys! It's good that you are teaching your kids about work...sometimes I think (I know) we are not making our kids do enough...
love these pages...
