Griffin's Field Trip & Fake Birthday

Tuesday, was Griffin's big field trip to visit the Loogootee Kindergarten class rooms. He will be going to Barr-Reeve next year but considering his Preschool is just around the corner from our home and just down the road from Loogootee School and the majority of the kids will attend Loogootee Schools.... the preschool does this every year to let the kids know what to expect when they do go to kindergarten. The kids got to walk there. Yes that is how close we live to Loogootee Schools but we live on the Daviess County side of the Daviess/Martin County lines so our kids go to Barr-Reeve. Ok now that geographic lesson is done.... Each child was partnered up with another, Griffin's partner was his buddy Brayton, who will also be going to Barr-Reeve with him this fall. Mrs. Brenda gave the rules about walking along the road and staying with your partner and stopping when a vehicle came down the road. I was very impressed with Griffin, he listened and OBEYED the rules very well. He was the first to see cars coming and stopped! YAY Griffin! He also made to sure to keep track of Brayton and not get separated from him. They visited the 3 kindergarten classes and sang a couple of songs in each room. And the best part is they got to go play with the kindergarteners during their recess! It was a beautiful day for the walk and for them to play outside. Griffin got so hot and sweaty from playing so hard. Then it was off back to preschool, where Griffin got to celebrate his birthday since he will be finished with preschool before his birthday arrives. Griffin promptly told me it was his "FAKE BIRTHDAY". He was pretty excited though because he got to sit in the white chair and everyone sang "Happy Birthday" to him. We found "Little Dibs" ice cream treats in individual packages at Wal-Mart that he chose to take for his treats as well as juice pouches! It was a big hit especially with the kids being thirsty and hot from playing on the playground and the big walk! Lisa let me borrow her stroller so Alton & I went along for the nice walk! I thought he might sleep all the way there...but the moment I put him in the stroller he was so excited and started kicking his feet and cooing. He was awake almost the entire time aside from a quick cat nap on the way back. I think he enjoyed seeing all the kids too!
